Each December, HPC runs a program
designed to ensure that the children of our clients have a happy holiday. Clients submit a "wish" list, and donors
are matched to individual clients. Gifts range from bicycles to hats and winter coats. Each year, about 300 children
from over 130 families enjoy the benefits of this program.
Our case managers select families in need and pair them with community members and organizations who want to provide
gifts for them. Although our clients' full names and records are completely confidential, we can offer first names,
ages of children, and share their gift wish lists.
After these families are "adopted", it's up to the donor to decide what they'd like to give. If your life gets
too busy, you can send a cash donation and our volunteers will do the shopping. top

Each fall, HPC runs the Backpack Program for students who are children of clients. "Required" lists of school supplies
often cost up to $80 per child. Many clients cannot afford this expense. As a result, HPC purchases backpacks,
and donors fill them with everything from notebooks, pens, and pencils to calculators and dictionaries. Each year,
about 100 children from 50 families are positioned for school success through this program.
