Adopt-A-Family

Each December, HPC runs a program designed to ensure that the children of our clients have a happy holiday. Clients submit a "wish" list, and donors are matched to individual clients. Gifts range from bicycles to hats and winter coats. Each year, about 300 children from over 130 families enjoy the benefits of this program.

Our case managers select families in need and pair them with community members and organizations who want to provide gifts for them. Although our clients' full names and records are completely confidential, we can offer first names, ages of children, and share their gift wish lists.

After these families are "adopted", it's up to the donor to decide what they'd like to give. If your life gets too busy, you can send a cash donation and our volunteers will do the shopping.   top

Backpacks-to-School

Each fall, HPC runs the Backpack Program for students who are children of clients. "Required" lists of school supplies often cost up to $80 per child. Many clients cannot afford this expense. As a result, HPC purchases backpacks, and donors fill them with everything from notebooks, pens, and pencils to calculators and dictionaries. Each year, about 100 children from 50 families are positioned for school success through this program.   For more information click here.   top

Outer Cape Outreach

An Outer Cape office was established in late 2004 in the Provincetown United Methodist Church and is co-located with the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown (SKIP). We provide information, advice and actual casework as needed.   top

Duffy Mobile Health Clinic

The Duffy Mobile Health Clinic is stationed each Wednesday in our parking lot and is available for our clients in need of medical check-ups and referrals. Duffy Medical Center has also launched a special addiction program.   top

Lower Cape Lunch (LOCAL)

HPC is the umbrella organization for the Lower Cape Lunch (LOCAL). Local is a group of volunteers from area congregations who provide free hot meals and opportunities for socialization to all comers on Tuesdays at noon and Thursdays at 6:00 pm at the St. Joan of Arc Church on Canal Road in Orleans.
